William YOUNG, a yeoman farmer, was born in 1769 at Corston, baptised on 9 December 1770 at Timsbury, farmed and raised his family at Bitton, and died on 24 October 1810 at Bitton and was buried on 29 October 1810 at Corston. He married Mary COTTLE of Radstock, who died 16 September 1847 at Kingston Lisle and was buried on 20 September 1847 at Corston. After William's death Mary lived with her children at Paulton, then at Stone's Cross House near Midsomer Norton, then at Clapton, and afterwards moved with her daughter, Mrs Townsend, to Kingston Lisle in Berkshire where she died in 1847 and she was buried with her husband in Corston. They had 6 children:
A. Mary YOUNG bc 1800 Bitton ? married the Rev Robert TOWNSEND, Baptist Minister, but had no children. They died at Kingston Lisle where Robert was the pastor of a small endowed Baptist Church.
B. John YOUNG bc 1802 Bitton ? married his cousin Elizabeth YOUNG, the daughter of John YOUNG 1762-1824 of Nailsea. They had one daughter who lived to womanhood and died unmarried. John was a draper in partnership with his brother James YOUNG at Bridgwater, Somerset. Elizabeth died and John remarried, and in 1865 he was living with his wife and a child about a year old at Nash's Cotton Manufactory in Castle Street, Bristol.
C. William YOUNG bc 1804 Bitton ? was a draper in Bristol and died about 1848, probably at Leamington and was said to have two unmarried daughters.
D. James YOUNG was born about 1806 at Bitton, Glos, and he was a draper in partnership with his brother, John YOUNG, at Bridgwater. In 1851 he was listed on the census as a draper, aged 45, living at 111 High St, Bridgwater, with his wife Susan (bc 1811 Bridgwater) and children Mary Ann (bc1842 Leamington) and Harriet (bc 1846 Bridgwater).
E. Ann YOUNG b 1808 Bitton ? married a Baptist minister who went abroad as a missionary, and died, it is said, at sea on her voyage out.
F. George YOUNG bc 1810 Bitton ? was a draper, and married, and went to New Zealand. He was stated to be residing as a merchant, without family, at New Plymouth NZ in 1866.
